An all-day Fairy Masquerade Ball at Woodwards Landing brought a magical ending to the Guiding year for River’s Edge District.
Sparks through Rangers frolicked under a flower- and balloon-bedecked pavilion. They made clothes pin flower fairies, decorated masks, and created fairy doors. Each unit stayed socially distanced, attending at their own specific time slot. As they entered, each participant was entered by fairy-sized scenes nestled between trees. Upon leaving, each participant received a fairy garden bag full of whimsy to create their own magic at home.

Who says you can't make jam on a camp stove? The River’s Edge Rangers discovered that the possibilities are endless, given some determination. They picked local strawberries and learned to make jam the old-fashioned way. The Rangers started by sterilizing jars and lids, then cooked the jam, and finished by reboiling the finished jam-filled jars. Bonus: using several Coleman stoves outdoors helped the Rangers brush up their dormant camping skills. On a related note, how we all long to tent camp, roast marshmallows, and sing campfire songs! |
