Did you know that West Coast Area offers a subsidy for camping (or sleepovers) at Girl Guide properties? This support is open to any units and districts in our Area. How do you apply? After your event, fill out the 'Request for Bednight Subsidy' (on the Forms page of this website). Send it to the Area Treasurer, whose email is on the form. New this year – a support level for GGC facilities that charge $25+ per night. How much is the subsidy? It depends on the nightly rate, per person, charged by the facility. Rate per night, per person Subsidy per night, per person Under $5 $0.25 $5 – 9.99 $0.50 $10 – 13.99 $1.00 $14 – 17.99 $5.00 $18 – 24.99 $9.00 $25 & over $12.00 Why should I apply? The subsidy helps bring down the cost of your sleepover or camp. You can charge less per person to attend, to make your event more accessible to all members. Remember: your unified banking account must be able to cover the full cost before camp. The subsidy happens after camp, when you know how many stayed each night. Are there other financial supports from Area? Yes! Your girl and youth members can also apply for a campership, in case of financial need, or the Vick Malkin Traveller's Fund to help with the cost of a Girl Guides trip (IGT, or Independent Group Trip). Adult members can apply for specialized training support. This includes remote first aid, canoe/kayak training, and other trainings that support girl/youth activities in the unit / district / area. Adults who purchase items for approved Area events can fill out an Area expense claim form. These forms are on the 'Forms' page of this Area website (see tabs at the top of the page).
